    What is Your Path? Wiccan
About Me I am a Witch of two years. Each day, I hunger to learn more, to further my walk along The Path and pray Spirit brings to me friends of like mind.
Music Punk; Rock; Swing; Jazz (rag-time); Traditional Celtic; R & B; Broadway (specific styles and numbers, not all); 80's rock
Movies "Jackass 1 and 2," "Clerks 1 and 2," "Star Wars" (orig 3), "Big Fish," "All About Eve," "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte," "The Illusionist," "Titanic," "A Night To Remember," "Yentle," "The Love Bug," "The Crow," "Auntie Mame," and "Practical Magic (the only movie about Witches I like).
TV Mostly educational tv... TLC, History Int'l, N'tl Geographic, etc. Some sit coms. Only news I will watch or listen to are usually BBC International or CBC World News.
Books Gawd... I usually read, like, 2 or 3 at once... um... currently re-reading "Wicked." Always have my nose in one of my Witchcraft books. Love biographies (about interesting people). Have read all of Al Franken's books, including "Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" and "Truth."
Likes Warm days spent outside; walking / playing with my beagle, Saffie; drawing / painting / cartooning; listening to music; MEN; dancing; cardio and weight training; vintage cars... specifically air-cooled VW's; miss and love NYC; fixing / maintaining old cars; did I mention MEN? I love being a Witch. I love the path I'm on. This is the most fulfilling spiritual path I've taken ever.
Dislikes People who read, like, one Silver Raven-Wolf book and reckon they are ready to start their own covens; movies and tv that depict Witches as associated with evil. Also, tv and movies that depict all Witches as looking like the cast from "The Craft." I also dislike those who deliberately harm others, who are self-agrandizing or who think they are better than others; Pagans who agree to go on idiotic shows like "The Tyra Banks Show" and allow themselves to be put on television only to be made to look off the chain. Also, I'm not fond of Country Music in general, though there are some performers I like.
Hobbies Creating Graphic Art; Fine Art; Cartooning; weight training and cardio; old movies; occasional model building and sculpting.
Vices Cigs and caffine, baby. The gruesome twosome. Bit of a Scottish temper, but not too bad. Only drink socially.
Virtues Not a perfect Witch, but hungry to learn; always looking to improve myself; want to help others; am reasonably attractive, I guess; good with people and animals.
Heroes Fictional: Superman and Spiderman. Non-Fictional: My late grandfather Carl Hill; my best friend, Trevor; my friend and ex b/f, Kris... oh yes, and occasionally my parents.

    Hey, you Witches and Pagans!

    Monday, August 25, 2008, 12:26 AM [General]

Sorry to've been so absent for so long... for anyone who actually paid attention to my pages, here.  Around the time of my last blog entry, I had become involved in a growing online, ecclectic Pagan tradition known as Path Of The Wise Ones.  Basically, it's a non-dogmatic tradition of people from various and assorted Pagan faiths / paths.  Legally, it's a non-profit "church" that, along with regular get togethers on Skype, on line rituals at Sabbats, etc, we also intend on having a plethera of social programs aimed at helping those in need from the Pagan Community and abroad.  I am the Director of HIV / AIDS Education and GLBT Support (seperately).

Beyond my spiritual work, I'm still painting and drawing.  My partner of 10 years, Ben and I, have moved from Bay City to what I like to term as Fabulous Downtown Flushing, Michigan.  Yes, get all of the toilet humor out now, if you must... but I believe the origins of this rural suburb's name stems from similar ones as that of Flushing, Queens in New York.

The attached painting is one I've recently finished and submitted to a New Age shop here in this little town, who want to feature me as an artist and to sell my work on consignment.  What do you think?

I will post more, later, but for now I must away to my trundle bed (ok, really it's a Mission Style queen-size with pillow-top mattress).  7:45 comes early enough in the a.m.

    Feelings... Nothing More Than Feelings...

    Monday, December 31, 2007, 04:50 PM [General]

In this past year, I've begun to explore the possibility that I am empathic.  I cannot stand it, sometimes... feeling deeply what others feel.  What's worse is trying to sift out my own emotions from those of others.  It's murderously exhausting, sometimes and I'm often frustrated by what I'm experiencing.  What's harder is not having anyone to tell this stuff to, for at times even other Pagans are skeptical of what I tell them.  I hope, among all my other hopes for 2008, that I'm able to figure out this gift.

Happy New Year, brothers and sisters!

    Where Are The Students?

Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 01:15 AM [News and Politics]

For my final project for 2-D design class, I decided upon a protest piece.  It's 7' X 3" on brown wrapping paper.

Liberty is holding the scales of Justice, but unlike the goddess of Justice, she isn't blind.  The scale is balanced on the heavy side with crock sh**s of cash.  The light side s spiling over of soldiers dying in combat for a war created by lies.  At Liberty's feet is the wreckage of one of the WTC towers.  This imagery stems from my being sick-to-death of the Right using 9-11 as our excuse for occupying lands in the Mid-East, spying on Americans with a nation-wide wire-tap, etc.

The smoke of distruction gives way to a sunset field on which two VW's sit... symbols of the past, from a (who knew?) simpler time, of peace, love and brotherhood.  Centrally and prominantly featured is a red, white and blue hand held in a peace sign.  There are no stars in the blue field in representation of the people's lack of representation in American Congress on the issues at hand.  The quote written across the mural is from the Greenday song, "Holiday."  "I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies."

    Self Portrait for class

    Monday, December 3, 2007, 07:47 PM [General]

I'm going to kill myself if I have to do another self portrait.  Not true, actually, as I have 2 more to do in 1 1/2 weeks.

    Another Part of The Mural

    Sunday, November 18, 2007, 10:44 AM [General]

Probably boring by now, but here's another part of the ocean-inspired mural I'm doing.
